Distributed EV-charging Architecture
EVAgent is an software development project to create a distributed software architecture for EV charging
The amount of electric vehicles (EV) is increasing faster than the expansion of the power grid, data standards, regulation, and market development can accommodate. This results in among oth- ers:
- Pressure on DSOs (Distribution System Operators) for grid expansion.
- Pressure on TSOs (Transmission System Operators) for network balancing.
- Monopoly like situations in the charging service industry.
- Extraordinarily high roaming prices for charging electric cars.
The electricity system as such is both electro-technically and regulatorily capable of supporting the many EV’s. However, there is a lack of digital solutions to provide data access to the ecosys- tem's parties while also protecting consumers' equipment and data, as well as the electricity sys- tem against cyberattacks.
In the EVagent project, we will develop innovative software and cryptographic solutions that make it possible to share data about EV’s/charging stations and simultaneously decouple infor- mation from actors to support competition and prevent monopoly like situations.
SEKKO, Maersk McKinney Moeller Institute at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and Concordium Blockchain have created a consortium and applied for research funds to create the EVAgent as an open source software project to be release before 2026.

Software project Features
- Authentification and data delegation service for charge point owner, charge point operators and service providers
- Digital wallet solution for owner and operators as a technical means to create and maintain smart contracts
- Charge point gateway to enable seamless integration between different types of charge points or service features of the charge point. The gateway includes privacy-by-design and data minimization features.
- Distributed registries and smart contracts to create a digital governance, enabling automization and speed, while maintaing security.
- Datasharing- and streamingservice to ensure data transmissions to and from the parties in the økosystem fast and safe.
